Iolani Palace, the official residence of Hawai‘i's monarchy, was built in 1882 by the last king, King Kalakaua. This National Historic Landmark in downtown Honolulu tells of a time when their Majesties walked its celebrated halls. The Palace complex contains beautiful memories of grand balls and hula performances, as well as painful ones of Queen Liliuokalani's overthrow and imprisonment. Today, you can enjoy one of the most spectacular living restorations in all of Polynesia and immerse yourself in Hawaii's royal heritage.
